
Laughing Out Loud Comedy Club – This new club opened in February of 2008 and has been a huge success. They have comedians from throughout the nation, many of whom have been on the national circuit for a number of years.

The Clayton Center offers some of the finest blues, jazz, music of the Big Band era, and comedy that is to be found in North Carolina. This venue has both the Palladian Series and the Sunday Series to choose from. The Flipside – In addition to serving lunch and dinner this terrific night spot has some of the finest local performing talent around. Entertainers perform light rock, jazz, blues and blue grass to name just a few. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings.

Locally we have Clemmons
Educational State Forest that has
several walking trails, one of which has “talking
trees” and
another of which has “talking rocks”. These
trees and rocks share with you the history and the
geology of

Clayton Community Park is a great place to take the family for a picnic. Or if you are a tennis buff then this park will take care of your racket sport needs with several well kept courts.

courses to satisfy your needs. There is Neuse
Golf Club that is 6910

Just outside of Benson is a 34-acre spring fed lake named
Tucker Lake that is ideal for swimming and picnicking.

Zebulon, 12 miles to the northwest, is home to the current
Double A Southern League baseball champions, the Carolina
Mudcats. The
tickets range from $4.50 to $8.50 for a ballgame.
Wilson, 30 miles to the east of Clayton, is home to
a significant number of fine antique dealers such as The
antique Barn,
Fulford Antique Warehouse, Bobby Langston Antiques, Boone’s
Antiques and the Greater Wilson Antique Market (mall)
to name a few. Wilson is home to America’s largest
tobacco market and daily market tours are available for
your enjoyment. The Wilson
Rose Garden, an All America Rose Selections Public Garden
that has over 1,100 rose plants for your enjoyment is
located in the
heart of Wilson.
Smithfield, 10 miles to the southeast, is Johnston County’s
county seat, as well as the home to the Ava Gardner Museum and
the Johnston County Heritage Center that houses several collections
on local history and genealogy for the county.
Raleigh, 15 miles to the northwest, is the North Carolina
State Capitol, and is where the Governor’s Executive Mansion
is located. The North Carolina Museum of Art, Museum of History,
Museum of Natural History, The Joel Lane Museum House and Haywood
Hall are all located in downtown Raleigh. In addition, The Raleigh
City Museum and Exploris (an interactive museum about the world)
are also in the heart of downtown Raleigh.
All of these venues are well worth exploring and are
quite enjoyable for a day trip around the Triangle.

Clayton Steakhouse – If you want a great aged Angus ribeye steak then this is the place to go to. The restaurant specializes in ribeyes, but also has a wonderful bone-in pork chop, a succulent “airline” chicken breast, and a mouth-watering salmon filet. The salad bar is the freshest around, offering 16 selections that are cut fresh daily. And do not leave without getting one of the delectable homemade desserts made by Betsy.
The restaurant offers a full top shelf bar, and some wonderful California wines to enjoy with your dinner. This is a “can’t miss” dining experience. And they are in the heart of downtown Clayton.
Mulberry on Main – If Italian cuisine is your choice for the evening then try this engaging restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Jerry Gubitosi and his family own and operate this establishment and have a wonderful array of authentic Italian dishes to whet your appetite. The family brings with them over 75 collective years of restaurant experience to their eating establishment and it truly shows with their fine cuisine. They are located on Main Street.
FesteJos Mexican Bar & Grill – This Tex-Mex eating establishment has all the right stuff to make you an excellent south of the border lunch dinner. And it is all made on site from scratch. You have to try their guacamole that is made right in front of you while you watch with mouth-watering impatience. And the taste is something out of this world. You cannot go wrong when ordering this appetizer.
El Sabor de Oaxaca Mexican Diner – You cannot get any more authentic Mexican food that at this eatery. Everything on the menu is made just like it is made in Oaxaca, Mexico. You will not find anymore authentic food than here.
The restaurant features two made from scratch versions of mole, the region's most famous contribution to Mexican cuisine: mole negro, the complex, coffee-dark sauce whose many ingredients include several types of chile, ground nuts and seeds, spices and chocolate; and mole coloradito, a brick-red sauce similar to mole poblano but sweeter. The menu also offers tacos, sopes, huaraches and other dishes whose names will be familiar to many, as well as a few dishes you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in these parts.
The Flipside is a unique nightspot just down the street from the Inn. They serve lunch & dinner Tuesday through Saturday and have some of the finest light rock, folk and blue grass music around for you to enjoy on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The Coffee Mill is a terrific place to get some of the best coffee in Johnston County. They also serve lunch Monday through Saturday with splendid menu you just have to try.
The Main Street Cafe is open for lunch Monday through Saturday 11am-3pm and has a vast array of teas for your enjoyment. In addition they serve a wonderful selection of tea sandwiches and salads.
Venero’s Pizzaria - This family style restaurant has really terrific Italian food and plenty of it. This eatery is a Clayton staple and will continue to be for years to come. The home made sauces are to die for and you can imagine what it will do to the various pastas to make your dining experience a truly enjoyable one. You cannot go wrong here.
Skylines Café – This modern café depicts several skyline scenes of very famous US cities. And the cuisine that is served is truly delectable. The menu consists of seafood, chicken, pork and beef selections to choose from. In addition there are several appetizers to get you ready for the main course. The wine list is very diversified and the bar is amply stocked with very nice selections to choose from.
McCall's Seafood & BBQ has a country style venue that is served either buffet style or ordered from their menu. All of the main dishes are fried cuisine, true southern cookin'.
La Cocina Mexican Restaurant has some of the most authentic Mexican food in North Carolina. The food is tasty and they are not frugal with their servings.
McKinley's Restaurant & Pub is a fun place to dine. It definitely has the atmosphere of an Irish pub. The menu selection is sure to have something that everyone will enjoy.
